Data Sources and Attribution

When you choose your suburb on TrustBro, you are choosing from the official list of Australian localities published in the Geocoded National Address File (G-NAF). That is why the list offers “Kellyville NSW 2155” rather than accepting whatever spelling is typed — it means one suburb is one place for every Tradie and every Hiring Role.

The Open G-NAF End User Licence Agreement incorporates the applicable Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) licensing terms, recorded in TrustBro’s provenance records as “CC-BY-4.0 (as incorporated by the Open G-NAF EULA)”. That licence is what permits the adaptation described below, subject to the attribution condition in the next section.

TrustBro does not republish G-NAF. We derive and adapt a smaller work from it, and that adapted work is what the platform runs on:

• a catalogue of Australian localities — name, state and identity
• locality-to-postcode relationships, and one primary display postcode per locality
• locality-level location infrastructure, including a locality centroid held on our servers

The Open G-NAF End User Licence Agreement requires the following statement, which we reproduce in full:

Geoscape Australia and the Commonwealth of Australia have no involvement in TrustBro and do not endorse, sponsor or certify it, this website, or anyone listed on it. Nothing on TrustBro should be read as an official or government service.

• matching the suburb you select to a single official Australian locality, together with its state and postcode
• the work area on a Tradie’s preferences, and the location on their profile
• the suburb search itself, so everyone is choosing from the same list rather than typing their own spelling
• grouping and comparing locations consistently, so that a search for one suburb doesn’t miss profiles that spelled it differently

Job listings are not part of this yet. When a Hiring Role posts a job, its suburb is still typed in free text and is not matched against this dataset.

• No address-level records. TrustBro does not store or publish raw G-NAF address-level records in the TrustBro application. The source is processed offline to derive the locality and postcode infrastructure described above; street addresses and individual-address data are not sent to your browser or exposed through TrustBro. We never ask you for a street address.
• No mail generation. The licence specifically restricts using the data to generate addresses for sending mail. TrustBro does not send mail and does not produce address lists.
• No tracking your location.We do not use your device’s location, GPS or browser geolocation. Your suburb is on TrustBro because you chose it from a list, and you can change it at any time in your preferences.
• No map coordinates in your browser.We do hold a locality centroid on our servers, as described above — it is a suburb-level point, identical for everyone in that suburb, and never anyone’s position. It is not sent to your browser and is not shown to anyone. The suburb search returns a name, state and postcode only.

Suburb boundaries and postcodes change over time, and we work from a fixed release of the dataset rather than a live feed, so an unusually new or recently renamed locality may not appear immediately. If you cannot find your suburb, or you think a suburb is listed incorrectly, email support@trustbro.com.au and we will look into it.
